Weekend Fun at Wild Willow Farm

Our team volunteer days are something special. We look forward to them throughout the year in anticipation of learning new things, sharing laughs, and doing our part. Here’s a peek at our latest adventure here in the San Diego community. Last Saturday, Team Booch spent the day at one of our favorite places on the planet: Wild Willow Farm & Education Center. Tucked away in South San Diego’s Imperial Beach―just minutes from our brewery. Wild Willow is home to a small team with a big mission to democratize regenerative agriculture, promote biocultural diversity, and teach others how to live sustainably in our region and beyond. These folks not only share our values, but are our close friends and company partners. As a member of 1% for the Planet, Boochcraft donates a portion of our sales to this cherished farm, among other hand-picked organizations focused on sustainability. Furthermore, we helped found a program at Wild Willow called Farm to Families, a food justice organization that strives to increase knowledge of the connection between food, health, and wellbeing, while providing low-income families with fresh, organic produce. So, let’s get back to Saturday when we got down and dirty on the farm! The goal of the day? To participate in the Wild Willow Farm Food System by helping to prepare the soil for seasonal plantings of vegetables, greens, herbs, and cover crops. The tasks at hand? Weeding, plowing, composting, mucking the landscape, mulching, and more―all of which are fundamental aspects of the regen ag efforts that make this farm such an impactful, inspiring, and truly awesome place to be. We plowed. We picked weeds. We tested our strength. We had a blast. We did something.
